KetoCaNa is a source of Beta-HydroxyButyrate (BHB), the ketone body that is used by the body cells to increase energy.

The BHB is bound to the minerals calcium (Ca) and sodium (Na). KetoCaNa uses calcium and sodium for better absorption and transportation of BHB. The body then uses BHB to increase energy production.

The product is sugar-free, caffeine-free and gluten-free. It is also Paleo and Keto Friendly.

To learn what exogenous ketones are how they work, read a series of articles: Part 1, Part 2.

This product comes in a powder form. A liquid option also exists and it is known as Ketoforce.

KetoCaNa can elevate ketone bodies for up to three hours.

The main benefits of using KetoCaNa are consistent energy, better mental clarity and focus. Nonetheless, the product has many other benefits, some of which are:

  • increase in stamina
  • improved resistance training performance
  • improved mental performance

It is best to mix KetoCaNa with an acidic beverage. The product is suitable for athletes who are looking to increase energy and improve their performance. It is also suitable for those who want to adapt to a diet quicker.

During the initial stages of a ketogenic diet, consume the product three times a day for the first 2-3 days. This will accelerate ketosis and ease metabolic transition. When you are in ketosis, you can consume it once a day.

It is fine to use KetoCaNa later in the evening because it does not contain any stimulants.

Important Note: This product should be avoided by individuals with disorders, who are more susceptible to diabetic ketoacidosis.

Being in a state of ketosis improves body composition compared to a calorie matched higher carbohydrate diet. (Volek, Jeff S., et al. "Body composition and hormonal responses to a carbohydrate-restricted diet." Metabolism 51.7 (2002): 864-870.)

Elevated levels of circulating beta hydroxybutyrate leads to an increase in memory recall and cognitive test performance. (Reger, Mark A., et al. "Effects of β-hydroxybutyrate on cognition in memory-impaired adults." Neurobiology of aging 25.3 (2004): 311-314.)

Circulating beta hydroxybutyrate lead to a decrease in free radical formation. (Maalouf, Marwan, et al. "Ketones inhibit mitochondrial production of reactive oxygen species production following glutamate excitotoxicity by increasing NADH oxidation." Neuroscience 145.1 (2007): 256-264.)

*Note that above research is with endogenous beta hydroxybutyrate production. It is possible that supplementation with beta hydroxybutyrate can lead to greater increases in circulating levels.
